The Mama Gaze in a New Photo Book: Submit Your Work

If you identify as a mama and your images (taken from 2015 onwards) look introspectively into your own family and home, you have time until September 25, 2022 to submit your work!

The Eye Mama Project, a global visual platform that aims to highlight the work of photographers that identify as mamas, is now becoming a book and is looking for 150+ photographers to be published in it.

The project was founded during the pandemic by Karni Arieli, a Bafta nominated filmmaker, photographer and an eye mama. She started the ‘mama gaze’ submission project on Instagram in 2021 to shine a light on the unseen narratives surrounding motherhood, family care and the home. The platform currently has nearly 40k submissions and 13k+ followers from more than 50 countries worldwide.

The MAMA GAZE BOOK will be launched in Summer 2023 by teNeues, with accompanying exhibitions and talks on topics surrounding photography, motherhood and social issues.

The jury for the open call for entries consists of 10 female photography professionals: Alessia Glaviano (Head of Global PhotoVogue, Italy), Aldeide Delgado (Founder WHOPA foundation, USA / Cuba), Ana Casas Broda (Photographer, Co-Director Hydra, Mexico), Charlotte Yonga (Photographer, artist and mama, France/Cameroon), Elinor Carucci (Award winning photographer, Israel / USA), Kana Tanaka (Photographer, Founder 365project, Japan), Karni Arieli (Photographer, Bafta nominated filmmaker and Founder Eye Mama Project, Israel/ UK), Sarah Leen (Editor, Curator, Founder The Visual Thinking Collective, Former Director of Photography, National Geographic, USA), Smita Sharma (Photographer photojournalist, TED fellow, India), Ying Ang (Photographer, Director Reflexions 2.0, Founder Le Space gallery, Australia/Singapore /USA).
