The Kerala Story is a ‘great service to Islam’, says Sudipto Sen | Hindi Movie News – Times of India
Producer Vipul Shah and director Sudipto Sen on Wednesday categorically dismissed the claims that their film is spreading hatred against the Muslim community. Explaining his stance Vipul Shah gave the example of Gabbar Singh from Sholay. He claimed that when the villain was named Gabbar Singh, director Ramesh Sippy was not against the Singh community. So why this biased judgement against us? We have only spoken about the perpetrators.
When asked why there was not a single redeeming Muslim character in the film, he said that he was not there to do a balancing act. Sen further said that when one talks about terror, one cannot assume they are targeting the religion, and with the film they have done a great service to Islam. He also claimed that there are 2 Keralas, one that is beautiful, the backwaters, the Kalaripayattu, the dance etc, but on the other part is a terror-network hub.
