The fastest players in MLB

Witt continues to progress in his rookie season, with 23 extra-base hits and eight stolen bases in his first 52 career games. The shortstop has shown off-the-charts athleticism, averaging 30.4 feet per second sprint speed.

Turner has regularly been among the fastest players in his MLB career, and 2022 is no different. The star shortstop has 12 steals in 55 games and has over 200 stolen bases for his career.

Mateo has emerged as the regular shortstop for the rebuilding Orioles this season and has 13 stolen bases in 51 games. He once swiped 82 bases as a Yankees farmhand in 2015.

Siri made some noise in last year’s playoffs and continues to play well off the Astros bench. He has six steals in 37 games and has averaged 30.2 feet per second sprint speed.

The speedy White has been a surprise regular for Texas. The Clemson alum has 12 stolen bases in 44 games, though his batting average is below .200.

A former top prospect, the athletic Adell is still finding his way in the majors. He has only three steals in 95 career games but has still shown off plus power and speed.

Vierling began the year as the Phils starting center field but has since been shuttled between Triple-A and the majors. He does have three steals in 58 career games since last season.

O’Neill is known for his muscular physique and big power with 34 home runs last season. He also swiped 15 bases and has swiped three bases in 33 games this year.

Sosa has gained playing time in St. Louis with Paul DeJong’s struggles and continues to run well. He has six stolen bases in 154 career games and has averaged 29.8 feet per second sprint speed.

Rodriguez is the favorite to win AL Rookie of the Year, showing he can do it all on the field. The 21-year-old leads MLB with 17 stolen bases, also hitting .273-7-26.

Rosario’s speed has allowed him to split time between shortstop and the outfield, while also putting up good stolen base numbers. He has 68 steals in 590 career games, including five steals this season.

Zimmer has been a valuable bench player for Toronto after swiping 15 bases in 99 games with Cleveland last year. He has only one steal in 39 games so far this season but has averaged 29.5 feet per second sprint speed.

McCarthy has seen only 147 plate appearances over two seasons for his career but has already flashed as one of the fastest players in MLB. He stole 32 bases between three levels, including MLB, last year.

Hill has spent time patrolling center field for the Tigers and has three steals in 29 games. He’s stolen more than 20 bases five times in the minors.

Pena remains a Rookie of the Year candidate after a fast start, with eight home runs and four stolen bases in 49 games. The shortstop stole 20 bases in the minors during the 2019 season.

Trout doesn’t steal bases like he once did, but the superstar still runs very well. He has yet to swipe a base through 52 games played this season but did lead MLB back in his rookie season in 2012 with 49. Trout has 203 steals for his career.

Bader brings energy to center field and the Cardinals lineup with his elite speed. Through 53 games played, he was tied for the NL lead with 14 steals.

McKenna’s speed makes him a nice fit for utility work in Baltimore. He has only one steal in 126 career games but stole 20-plus bases twice in the minor leagues.

Gimenez is emerging as one of Cleveland’s best offensive players this season. The former top prospect has seven home runs and four stolen bases in 44 games. He stole 38 bases in the Mets farm system in 2018.

Chisholm is quickly becoming the face of the Marlins, putting up big numbers early in the year. He leads MLB with four triples and also has nine stolen bases in 43 games. He’s shown off a blazing 29.2 feet per second average sprint.

Berti is well known for his base-stealing ability, with 43 career steals in 228 games. He already has eight steals this season, mostly playing off the bench.

Straw sets the table in the Guardians lineup. After stealing 30 bases between Houston and Cleveland last season, Straw has 11 steals in 51 games in 2022.

Azocar has been a valuable contributor as a rookie for San Diego. He has two steals on six attempts early this season over 41 games, averaging 29.2 feet per second sprint speed.

Kiermaier is known as one of the best defensive center fielders in the game, with three Gold Gloves. He can also steal a base, doing so three times this season and 109 times for his career with his elite speed.

Fox has appeared in the majors only briefly this year, swiping one base in 10 games. He’s appeared as a top prospect on occasion during his minor league career and has stolen over 20 bases four times in the minors.
