The entire world is laughing at Conor McGregor after awful first pitch

Conor McGregor became a laughing stock as an excruciatingly embarrassing moment went viral and sparked a flood of jokes on the internet.

He can throw a mean left hook but Conor McGregor’s talents don’t extend to the mound.

The UFC star was given the honour of sending out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of Wednesday’s Major League Baseball game between the Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins and things didn’t go to plan.

Dressed in a suit and navy polo top, McGregor wound up and prepared to unleash some heat. But there’s a reason baseball isn’t the most popular sport in Ireland, as The Notorious bombed spectacularly.

Instead of hitting anywhere near the middle of the catcher’s glove, McGregor’s pitch sailed wide to the right, landing closer to spectators in the stands as the ball collided into a brick wall separating fans from the playing arena.

Footage of the embarrassing throw quickly went viral on social media, attracting more than 2 million views within just a couple of hours.

McGregor became an absolute laughing stock.

American site TMZ said the fighter’s pitch “might be the worst of all time” while the Twitter account for Barstool Sports podcast Pardon My Take called it an “all-time bad first pitch”.

Even the Brisbane Lions’ social media team got involved. “Hope you handball better than you pitch,” the AFL club tweeted.

McGregor’s effort reminded plenty about rapper 50 Cent’s famous pitch in 2014, when his custard-arm throw limped out to the far left.

Podcaster Mark Pavelich tweeted: “@TheNotoriousMMA just made @50cent look good and to think, we all thought that was never going to be possible.”

Caleb Hull called it “the worst first pitch I’ve ever seen” while some asked whether McGregor failed deliberately because they didn’t believe a pitch could possibly be that bad.
