The Bride Wore Galia Lahav for Her Festival Season Wedding in New Orleans
Going wedding dress shopping with her mom and mother-in-law in New York City was the best part of the prep process for Heather. “I am wedding dress sample size, so I was able to try on a lot of options from trunk shows that were in town,” Heather says. “I always wanted a chic and timeless gown to match the gown my mother wore, but I was excited to see myself in a variety of styles.”
She had bookmarked Galia Lahav dresses for years, so when her stylist pulled a dress by the Israeli designer that matched the description of what she was looking for, it was a dream come true for the bride. “I told her to do whatever she needed to do to make it happen,” Heather jokes. “Including me forgetting I had a budget, getting a custom gown created and rush-shipped from Israel to make it in time for my big day.”
Because her dress was so detailed, Heather decided to keep beauty and glam understated and classic. “I really wanted all of the focus to be on the dress,” she says. She borrowed her mom’s diamond studs for her something borrowed and her something old. Her something blue was her garter and her something new were her Rene Caovilla Margot Swarovski white jewel sandals and, of course, her dress.
Drew took inspiration from James Bond for his wedding day look. Heather also requested that he wear navy blue to stand out from guests who were all asked to wear black. “I went to Suit Supply in Williamsburg and reviewed fabric swatches to find the right color,” he explains. “The process of designing my tux was extremely fun for me as I work in fashion production. I selected a 100% Bamboo navy blue fabric that would be breathable and would allow me to dance all night, but still give that classic James Bond tuxedo look.”
For his bow-tie, he went with a chunky style from Tom Ford. “I wanted to do a Tom Ford tux but that was not in the budget, so I compromised with a bow-tie,” Drew says. For shoes, he opted for Christian Louboutin Chambeliss patent loafers, and his wedding band and cuff links were both by Cartier.
Following the ceremony and reception at Felicity Church, the newlyweds were picked up in a Rolls Royce Phantom and whisked over to the after-party at Ciao nightclub, where the bride changed into 3M custom Air Force Ones and there was impromptu R&B karaoke, a hookah, and lots of bottle popping. Needless to say, the custom hangover kits that were passed out at the end of the night were practically a necessity.
The day after the wedding, family and friends met Heather and Drew at the French Quarter Festival to recover and take in some music. Then on Sunday, the party continued—the newlyweds ate crawfish with friends, went to a concert, and still made it to the airport in time for their mini-moon in St. Maarten.
