The Best Dressed Stars Favored Quirky Accents This Week
Quirky finishings reigned supreme on Hollywood’s red carpets last week. A-list stars went for unconventional looks that were both fun and whimsical—rebuking the idea that only glamorous, traditional evening wear works for a big movie premiere. Take Gwendoline Christie at the London screening of The Sandman: Her sculptural, silver Rick Owens gown proved to be a refreshingly avant-garde look that paid off. As did Zazie Beetz’s look for the L.A. premiere of Bullet Train: She wore a denim patchwork Acne Studios gown that, somehow, still looked extremely polished (it was also a nice nod to Britney Spears circa 2001).
A dash of skin was also trending the past few days. For a performance at the Sunny Hill Festival in Kosovo, Dua Lipa wore a custom Valentino ensemble in bright pink—including a crop top, skirt, opera gloves, and boots to match. For the Prey premiere in L.A., Amber Midthunder spotlighted the Indigenous label Sky Eagle Collection by wearing its long, floral-embellished gown—with just the right amount of sheerness.
A dash of kooky style was even present off the major red carpets. In London, Kylie Jenner stepped out in a vintage Comme des Garcons look—from the label’s fall 2007 collection—that was covered in three-dimensional hands. It was an ensemble that, pun intended, deserves applause. Which were your favorite celebrity looks this week? Be sure to vote below, and check back on Friday to see which ensemble is the ultimate best dressed of the week.
