Rising star Jordan Cox scored a half-century in Sunday’s T20 Blast Final, but this fielding stunt is what sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Kent has secured its second T20 Blast title after comfortably defeating Somerset by 25 runs in Sunday morning’s final at Edgbaston.
English young gun Jordan Cox scored a quick-fire half-century to help guide Kent to a defendable total of 7/167 before the bowlers restricted Somerset to 9/142 in the run chase.
As revealed by ESPNcricinfo’s Matt Roller, World Cup champion Jos Buttler is the only cricketer to score a Finals Day half-century at a younger age than Cox.
The 20-year-old’s last 11 balls at the crease featured three fours, three sixes and 38 runs.
But it was his feats in the field that sent the Birmingham crowd into a frenzy.

Somerset was 94/5 in the 14th over when skipper Lewis Gregory attempted to smack veteran seamer Darren Stevens over the square leg boundary.
Cox sprinted along the boundary rope and leapt into the air, swatting the ball back into play with one hand.
Kent teammate Matt Milnes completed the remarkable catch as Gregory made his way back to the pavilion and the spectators went berserk.
BBC journalist Doug Faulkner tweeted: “This is ridiculous. Such a brilliant catch to settle a final. Great performance all-round from Jordan Cox.”
Cricket broadcaster Fabian Cowdrey called it “the greatest piece of fielding I’ve ever seen”.
“I can‘t say I practise that much,” Cox confessed after the match.
“I think that’s from my youth days when I used to be a goalie. Playing T20 cricket, everyone tries to do that sort of fancy stuff. Today it hit the middle of the palm but tomorrow it might have clipped the finger and gone for six.
“It’s about the effort you put into it. I put 100 per cent into it and if it didn’t come off, everyone would have said ’great effort’ so it was a win-win.”
Kent captain Sam Billings said: “He‘s being too humble. He does practise a lot and he’s our gun fielder. He’s done probably five different catches similar to that over the season. Moments like that change the game and a bit of magic, both with the bat and then in the field, that was the difference tonight.”
Cox has played 29 T20 matches since making his professional debut in 2019, scoring 500 runs at 33.33 with an impressive strike rate of 132.62.
