Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher done talking about Nick Saban: ‘It’s time to shut up and play’

Texas A&M Aggies coach Jimbo Fisher is ready to take on the upcoming football season and he’s not interested in making any more comments about Alabama coach Nick Saban.

“We’re talented and have established that we can start stacking a huge number of the right guys in our program,” Fisher told ESPN on Friday. “We’ve still got great challenges this year. We gotta go prove it. Hey, it’s time to shut up and play, just go play. Don’t worry about what people say. Don’t worry about what happened this summer between me and Nick.”

In May, Saban said “A&M bought every player on their team” en route to the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in 2022. Fisher wasted no time firing back at Saban, calling him a “narcissist” and railing against the Alabama coach’s “really despicable” comments.

Eventually, both coaches backed down from the feud. Saban said he has “no problem” with Fisher and the Texas A&M coach said he has “great respect” for Saban.

Fisher, 56, was the offensive coordinator under Saban during the latter’s five-season stint as the head coach of the LSU Tigers and the duo won a BCS National Championship together. Fisher later lost his first four meetings against Saban — one with Florida State and three with Texas A&M. He snapped that streak in 2021 with a 41-38 victory over then-No. 1 Alabama in October.

The Crimson Tide and Aggies are set to meet in Tuscaloosa, AL this year on Oct. 8.
