Teurn Studios Copenhagen Fall 2023 Collection
Who knows what the thinking was about this lookbook shoot, but the sort of “candy minimalism” to be found on the racks in the showroom is not present here. You’re not missing out on silhouettes, but the autumnal palette of the clothes in these pictures changes the mood of the collection, making it seem rather serious. That’s sort of a shame, because one of the assets Anna Teurnell brings to her brand is a sense of fun—along with decades of experience.
At Teurn Studio, the designer is dressing herself, and women like her, who work and don’t have time to fuss about fashion, but at the same time appreciate quality and cut. “I think this is so important for the brand, that we have those interesting proportions, those wearable things that still have a considered silhouette,” she said. Exhibit one: a keeper of a shearling coat with a “banana cut” sleeve, to wear, perhaps, with new-for-the-season baggy jeans. (Denim is all over the fall collections in Copenhagen.)
There are also many beautifully tailored coats and suits in the lineup, that are classic yet versatile. A double-breasted tuxedo jacket with a pair of cropped flared pants literally adds some kick to the collection. It’s easy to see those same pants paired with a short or a heavy cashmere sweater for a more casual, but far from ordinary outfit. “We are getting more and more attention for the idea that we do products that make you feel and look good,” says Teurnell, who has won a raft of local prizes since launching the brand. “But also people love that you have those surprising elements in there all the time.” For fall she’s brought back her fast-selling diamanté boots that maximize an otherwise minimal look. “We continue with those because it’s fun,” notes Teurnell. Yes, and diamonds will always be a girl’s best friend.
