Taapsee Pannu says ‘stop blaming the industry only’ as she speaks up about pay disparity in Bollywood – Times of India
According to her, pay disparity is not just producers not wanting to give more money. It is also about the female-driven films not receiving more footfalls in the theatres.
The actress told a news portal in an interview that when it comes to a female-driven film, people wait for reviews more than advance bookings. However, when it comes to a male-driven film, the advance bookings are so high that the footfalls are collected within the first weekend itself. So she wants people to stop blaming the industry only for this problem as it is also the audience who has to contribute to this change.
Further, the actress also spoke about the success of her films, ‘Badla’ and ‘Pink’ which minted good numbers. According to her, the films started out very average. Taapsee added that ‘to have a big opener film, it has to be associated with a big hero presence’. She also stated that a big filmmaker backing a movie is another criteria for a big opener.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Taapsee has a line-up of some very interesting films in her kitty which include, ‘Dunki’ with Shah Rukh Khan, ‘Shabaash Mithu’, ‘Dobaaraa’, ‘Woh Ladki Hai Kahan?’ and others.
