Taapsee Pannu lends support to victim in Shahdara assault case – Times of India
The 20-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by her neighbours after a teenage boy from their family ended his life after being spurned by the victim. The woman’s hair was chopped off, her face was blackened and she was then paraded on the streets with a garland of shoes. When a video of her assault was shared online, Tappsee asked for an update on the case and tweeted, “Has someone rescued this girl ? How can such obvious faces in the video not be caught? My heart has skipped a beat looking at this.” When a netizen questioned Taapsee’s concern, the actress clapped back saying, “Ya sir intents are personal. It’s personal for me to see street full of ppl witnessing this assault n none came to her rescue. It is personal for me when bunch of women make this happen with full intent. And it is personal for me when some ppl like you can only bring in such interpretations out of such gory incident.”
Providing an update on the cast, R Sathiyasun, deputy commissioner of police, Shahdara, had told ANI, “An unfortunate incident of sexual assault of a woman due to personal enmity happened in Shahdara District.” Of 11 accused, nine people, including seven women from one family, have been arrested.
