All hopes of the Indian team’s qualification into the semi-finals rest with Afghanistan in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. Sunday’s fixture between Afghanistan and New Zealand could decide the fate of three teams in the tournament.

If New Zealand win, they will qualify. If Afghanistan win, it will bring joy to the faces of citizens of not just Afghanistan but also India. If that happens, Virat Kohli and co will be in a better position to qualify as they play after this fixture and will know what exactly has to be done in terms of NRR as all three teams will be tied on six points.

Pakistan having won four games already, will face Scotland in their final game of the group stage and look set to top the table with five wins unless there’s an upset on the cards.

Some Pakistani fans jumped on social media suggesting Afghanistan’s loss to India was a fixed game and referring to the same former pacer Shoaib Akhtar said that if Afghanistan are able to beat New Zealand, there will be a lot of questions asked and social media will go bonkers.

Speaking ahead of the game, Akhtar said, “India’s fate is now in New Zealand’s hands. If New Zealand lose [to Afghanistan] a lot of questions will be raised, I’m warning you. I’m afraid that it will become another trending topic. I don’t want to get into any controversy but sentiments of Pakistanis are really high at the moment as far as New Zealand is concerned.

“I think New Zealand are better than Afghanistan. If, God forbid, they don’t play well and lose, that will be a problem. Nobody will be able to stop social media if it happens and we have to take that into consideration,” the Rawalpindi Express further added.
