Swara Bhasker got hitched to social activist Fahad Ahmad last week, the couple registered their union under the Special Marriage Act. Soon after this announcement. Swara’s old tweet addressing Fahad as ‘bhai’ went viral on social media, netizens trolled the actress for marrying someone whom she called her brother.
Finally breaking silence over the tweet, Fahad stated that ‘jokes a part’, Sanghis have agreed that Hindu-Muslim can be brothers and sisters and now just accept that husband and wife can joke too. Swara has reshared husband Fahad’s post on Twitter.

Swara had penned this tweet on February 2, 2023, on Fahad’s birthday, days after the couple began their marriage proceedings.

Announcing her wedding, Swara had shared on social media, “So blessed to be supported and cheered by the love of family and friends like family! Wore my mother’s sari & her jewellery.. made @FahadZirarAhmad wear colour 🙂 and we registered under the #SpecialMarriageAct Now to prep for shehnaii-wala shaadi.” Hailing the Special Marriage Act, the actress had shared, “Three cheers for the #SpecialMarriageAct (despite notice period etc.) At least it exists & gives love a chance… The right to love, the right to choose your life partner, the right to marry, the right to agency these should not be a privilege.” In March, Swara and Fahad will have a grand wedding in Delhi.
