Swara Bhasker slams BJP over Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification: That’s how scared they are of so-called ‘Pappu’ – Times of India

The disqualification of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha on Friday has come a shock to the parties and members of the opposition. On March 23, he was convicted by a Surat court in a 2019 defamation case over his remark on the Modi surname. Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker has now reacted to the matter and said that the action against Rahul Gandhi was a blatant misuse of law.
“That’s how scared they are of so-called ‘Pappu’ ! Blatant misuse of law to ensure that @RahulGandh’s growing popularity, credibility & stature are curbed and clear strong-arm tactics for 2024 Lok Sabha that RG now cannot contest.. My guess is RG will come out of this taller,” Swara tweeted.

During an election rally in 2019, Rahul Gandhi had said, “Why do all thieves have Modi as their surname?” He then named fugitive Indian diamond tycoon Nirav Modi, banned Indian Premier League boss Lalit Modi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech.

BJP leader Purnesh Modi had filed the defamation case against Gandhi alleging that his comments defamed the entire Modi community. The action has been termed as an attempt to silence Gandhi’s voice by the Congress party as they take on the battle legally and politically.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee condemned the action against Gandhi saying that members of BJP are scared of the opposition.
