Suvendu Adhikari writes to PM, expresses concern about idol vandalism in Bangladesh
He also urged the PM to take immediate steps to stop further attacks and help the Sanatani minority community in Bangladesh who are always “targeted”. Adhikari tweeted that the Durga idols were desecrated and pandals and temples were vandalized in Cumilla district, Cox Bazar and Noakhali.
“Vandalising temples and Durga Puja pandals in Cumilla district, Cox’s Bazar & Noakhali in Bangladesh; following “conspiratorial rumours” spread through social media is disheartening. Desecrating idols of Maa Durga at will is an orchestrated attack on Sanatani Bengali community,” Suvendu Adhikari took to twitter and said.
“I would like to bring to your urgent attention the vandalism that has marred the vibrant festivities of Durgapuja in Bangladesh,” Suvendu mentioned in the letter to the Prime Minister.
“The attacks on Hindus and vandalism of Durga mata idols by the extremists in Bangladesh is unfortunate and disturbing, I strongly condemn it. Also, I request Bangladesh govt to take necessary steps to protect minority Hindus living there & punish the culprits,” BJP State President Sukanta Majumdar, expressing his grief over the matter, said.
It is learnt that Hindu temples in Bangladesh have been vandalised by some unknown miscreants during Durga Puja celebrations. The Bangladesh government has deployed paramilitary force in 22 districts after three people were killed and many others injured reportedly.
