Support and cooperation of each State and UT is must to become India a global powerhouse of sports: Anurag Thakur

The Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur has said that those States or Union Territories which have achieved certain milestones in development of sports need to exchange ideas and models of their success stories with other States and Union Territories for the growth of the sports in the country.

 

While delivering the concluding remarks on the second and concluding day of Chintan Shivir of Youth Affairs and Sports Ministers of States and UTs held in Imphal on Tuesday, the Union Minister said that the support and cooperation of each State and Union Territory is a must to become India a global powerhouse of sports. He also encouraged States and UTs government to organise sports competition and other activities from the grassroot level to groom the talented youths from the rural and interior areas.

 

Mr. Thakur also emphasised that the sports federations or associations need to maintain the calendar of sports events in advance for the betterment of sports persons.

 

The Union Minister also visited the construction site of the new campus of National Sports University in Imphal West this morning and inspected the ongoing construction process.
