Supermodels, Celebrities and Surprises—Versace’s Greatest Runway Moments
The Grammy’s Dress
When Jennifer Lopez appeared at the 2000 Grammy Awards in her infamous green Versace dress, she changed popular culture. The original “break the internet” outfit caused Google search to go into overdrive, so much so that the search engine’s then-president Eric Schmidt credits the surge for inspiring Google Images. Offline, the dress helped cement Lopez’s status as a Hollywood A-lister, and its jungle print has become a standard within her wardrobe for events and performances.
To mark the 20th anniversary of Lopez’s Grammy appearance, Donatella enlisted the star to walk the Versace spring 2020 runway in a modified version of the look that highlighted J.Lo’s ageless physique and the enduring appeal of those palm prints.
The Supermodel Reunion
No brand is as synonymous with the supermodel as Versace. During the spring 2018 show, the brand surprised the audience by bringing back several of its original muses. During the finale, the curtain pulled back to reveal Cindy Crawford, Carla Bruni, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, and Helena Christensen in a glamorous tableau. Dressed in coordinated silver chainmail gowns, the quintet of iconic Versace campaign stars looked just as good as they did in their ’90s heyday.
