Super awkward! Moment father snaps at double Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes when he refuses to sign an autograph for his son at golf course

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes refused to sign an autograph for one of his younger fans while out on the golf course earlier this week snapping at the boy’s father when he protested.

The two-time Super Bowl winner was approached by the youngster while taking part in the American Century Championship, a celebrity golf tournament being held in Nevada.

Mahomes, who signed a contract worth $450m with the Chiefs in July 2020, has played at the event a number of times before but claims he was asked to stop signing so many autographs during one of his rounds because it was holding up gameplay.

‘They told me I can’t do anymore … I was signing stuff, and they said I was taking too long,’ Mahomes could be be overheard telling a group of fans.

Despite Mahomes self-imposed rule about the autograph signing, it didn’t stop one eager youngster from asking for a favor from the football superstar.

‘Mr. Mahomes, will you sign my jersey when you’re done?’ the young fan could be heard politely asking.

Incredibly, Mahomes refused: ‘Can’t sign for everyone … can’t make everybody happy,’ he replied.

The boy’s dad jumped in – standing up for his son: ‘Yeah, you can … you can just make one kid happy out of a hundred.’

Mahomes was quick to reply, ‘I’ll make 99 sad.’

‘That’s alright … one out of 99, at least it ain’t zero percent,’ the father replied.

The plea fell on deaf ears and Mahomes seemed to brush off the interaction quickly and set about returning to his gameplay.

Mahome’s response drew a decidedly mixed reaction online.

‘I get the responses here and generally agree, but I’m gonna defend the dad, who, if actually trying to get an auto for his kid, is trying to do right by his kid. I’m in favor of dads trying to help their kids,’ wrote one user.

‘No issue. There’s always a chance a famous person say no. If no, be understanding. There’s a time and place for everything,’ added another.

‘If you want a autograph come to training camp on family day. The man is trying to win a tournament. That would be like asking for a autograph in the 4th qtr with 4mins to go down by 5 and your sitting in the front row,’ stated another on Twitter.

‘He’s not wrong. He autographs that kid, and then every other kid is gonna come running. Let the man play golf in peace,’ agreed a fellow respondent.
