Suniel Shetty says a critic told him to go back home and sell ‘idlis’ after his debut film – Times of India

Suniel Shetty made his debut with ‘Balwaan’ in 1992 and since then, he has been a part of many memorable films in his career over three decades. But did you know that after his debut film, a critic wrote in their review that Suniel should just go back home and sell idlis?
The ‘Hera Pheri’ actor recalled the incident in an interview and said that his debut film was a huge hit and he was accepted as an action hero. But then there was a critic who said ‘go back to selling idlis’. It was not fair, said Suniel because every kid believes that he’s the next Amitabh Bachchan.
The actor further spoke about his personality and how he dealt with the underworld during those years. Suniel said that they had come at a time when the underworld was rambling in Mumbai. He used to get threat calls but he would abuse back. The police also would tell him, that he’s being crazy and must not do that. But Suniel was quite adamant that he’s not done something wrong so the police better protect him but he has to give it back.
Shetty further added that his family has no idea about the things he’s done. Suniel never told his children Ahan and Athiya what all he has done. He’s done some crazy stuff, got injured, and self healed. That’s why, from the fitness perspective, it’s said that time is the best healer, expressed Suniel.
The actor will be shooting soon for the iconic ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise. The third installment with Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar again, with go on floors soon.
