Students in Delhi escape from fire at coaching centre by sliding down using wire

Following a fire incident in Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar area on 15 June, students at a coaching center rappelled down the building.

As per details, the fire was reported at 12.30 pm. As per visuals, students were seen sliding down using wires with bags on their backs, and the smoke coming out of the top floor of the building. While coming down, four of them received minor injuries, the police said.

The police added that the students used air conditioners installed on other floors while coming down.

After the fire was reported, 11 fire engines were sent to the spot and officials helped the students get away from danger.

“We received info about a fire in a building. Later we came to know that it is a coaching centre and some children are trapped in it. We sent a total of 11 fire tenders to the spot. The fire has been brought under control,” Delhi Fire Services Director Atul Garg told news agency ANI.

Fire department officials said that no casualty has been reported. Citing the reason of the fire, police said that ire broke out in an electricity metre and students started to panic due to the smoke emanating from the equipment.
