Steph Curry draws inspiration from Tom Brady as he looks to extend his career

At age 32, Steph Curry just finished one of the most productive seasons of his entire career. As he looks to extend his prime he’s drawing inspiration from the NFL’s ironman, Tom Brady.

Steph Curry is at an age when many NBA stars are beginning to slow down. But last season, at the age of 32, he led the league in scoring for the first time in five years with a career-high scoring average. He’s just inked a massive new four-year extension and he’s preparing to help the Warriors resume their championship hunt.

As the new NBA season approaches, Curry talked with Monte Poole of NBC Sports about his mindset and mentioned drawing inspiration from Tom Brady.

“Absolutely. I’ve actually talked to him, personally, about this. He’s at the point now where he can look back and talk about that with some authority and experience.”

What can Steph Curry learn from Tom Brady?

Tom Brady is well known for his extreme diet and fitness routines and Curry has also long been on the cutting edge of physical training techniques. However, what he focused in on the interview with Poole seemed to be Brady’s approach to taking things as they come and not looking too far into the future:

“But even he said, in the moment, when he was in his early-30s, mid-30s, late-30s, it was always, ‘I think I’ve still got two more years in me. Stay. Do everything I can to sustain yourself and stay physically and mentally sharp.’ And then you look up and you’re saying that again, saying it the next two years. And you’re saying it again.”

Tom Brady already became the oldest NFL MVP in history back in 2017, at age-40. This past season, at age 43, he led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl win and became the oldest Super Bowl MVP in league history. Steph Curry has a lot of challenges in front of him but he’d certainly like to do his own version of that this season.
