Starlink India head Sanjay Bhargava quits, announces resignation via LinkedIn page. Know what is the reason.
Starlink India’s journey in India hasn’t been smooth lately. The Elon Musk-backed aerospace company after being told to refund all pre-bookings of its satellite internet service has now lost its India head. Sanjay Bhargava, the head of the Indian arm of Starlink, has called quits and made the announcement via his LinkedIn post.
Bhargava cites no major reason other than this being his personal decision. “I have stepped down as Country Director and Chairman of the Board of Starlink India for personal reasons. My last working day was December 31, 2021,” wrote Bhargava on his LinkedIn post. The ex-India head also denied further comments and requested for privacy on the matter.

The Starlink India venture has hit troubled waters lately, with the Indian government turning its attention to the firm’s lack of an operating license. Announcing its services in early 2021, Starlink was able to secure pre-registration with 5,000 individuals and institutions. However, the company hasn’t secured its licenses yet and lately, was asked to refund all the amount to customers as a result.
The government has also asked Starlink India to refrain form taking further bookings until a license is awarded.
For those unfamiliar with Starlink, it is a wing of Elon Musk’s SpaceX aerospace venture that aims to provide satellite Internet connectivity across the globe. Starlink will have several satellites in a low-Earth orbit directing Internet services to remote locations. And all the customer needs is having a dish antenna and a receiver; similar to a Set-Top box system for a satellite TV service.
Starlink is currently in the testing phase, with initial Onternet speeds said to be in the range of 100-150Mbps. Once more of its satellites are hovering in the sky, Starlink promises to bring the speeds up to 1Gbps and reduce latency time.
