In a tweet, the Academy shared its leaderboard list as voting currently stands. Zack Snyder’s ‘Army of the Dead’, Camilla Cabello’s ‘Cinderella’, sci-fi drama ‘Dune’, the crime thriller ‘Malignant’, Johnny Depp’s ‘Minamata’, featured as the top 5.
‘The Power of the Dog’ that has also been nominated for Best Picture also featured on the list alongside the animated musical ‘Sing 2’, Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’, and Andrew Garfield’s ‘Tick, Tick…Boom!’.
The list was shared along with a reminder that voting for the award is still ongoing, and closes on March 3.

The tweet has not gone down too well with many who took to social media to say that the idea of ‘Army of the Dead’ or ‘Cinderella’ possibly winning the category was just ‘ridiculous’.
“The #OscarFanFavourite vote is ridiculous. Nothing says “The film industry is a joke” more than an award that only exists to boost ratings,” read a tweet.
Zack Snyder, on the other hand, continued his campaign with fans to help his Zombie film win Oscar glory. Fans of the director have been campaigning for ‘Army of the Dead’ to be acknowledged at the 94th Academy Awards after they realized that the “Snyder Cut” version of ‘Justice League’ couldn’t be recognized at the Oscars.
“Win, lose or draw. So grateful to my fans. You’re truly the best. Still, time to vote for ARMY OF THE DEAD until March 3rd,” Snyder said in a tweet.

The Oscars decided to include the “fan favourite” award for the year’s most popular film as voted on by Twitter users. According to reports, it is a move by the organisers to entice viewers back to a show that has seen its viewership plunge.
The announcement will be announced on March 27 at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony, following the failure of numerous popular blockbusters, such as ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and ‘No Time To Die,’ to get Oscar nominations in key categories, including Best Picture.
Their exclusion fueled worries that many viewers may avoid the event. However, any picture released in 2021 can be voted for in the new category via the Academy’s website or the Twitter hashtag #OscarsFanFavourite, increasing the odds of a blockbuster being honoured on the night.
