Sonu Nigam shares videos of ‘happier times’ before being assaulted for a selfie – Times of India

Sonu Nigam has resurfaced on social media to share videos from the controversial concert where he was assaulted for a selfie. The popular singer shared a series of videos which featured him energetically belting out big hits on the stage. “Happier times from last night..” Sonu Nigam had captioned the videos.
Post this event, Sonu Nigam and his two colleagues were manhandled allegedly by the son of an MLA during a scuffle to take a selfie with the singer. Post his performance at the live event, Swapnil Phaterpekar, whose family had organised the event, ended up in a scuffle with the singer, his friend Rabbani Khan and bodyguard Hariprakash. While the singer was pushed and fell on the steps, Rabbani was reportedly thrown off the stage. The Chembur police had registered an offence under IPC sections of assault, negligence and wrongful restrain against Swapnil and others.

Reacting to the incident, Sonu Nigam told TOI, “It was a close shave for me and Hariprakash, my bodyguard, but a very bad fall for Rabbani. A flat-on-your-back fall from a height of 7 feet like this, could have been fatal. Madness! I am very keen on knowing what the law does in open-and-shut cases like thi. Do they make us regret the decision of filing a legitimate complaint against hooliganism like this? Just because someone is a celebrity doesn’t mean he has to be obligated and subjected to anyone’s coercion for selfies and videos. That too in such a violent way.”
