Sonu Nigam and his team were manhandled by a Shiv Sena member at a music event in Mumbai’s Chembur suburb. The singer was performing at the festival when a local MLA, believed to be associated with Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena party misbehaved with Nigam’s manager Saira. The MLA’s son wanted to click a photo with Sonu and that’s why they ended up going on stage. The man then asked Sonu’s manager to get off the stage and when Sonu was getting down from the stage, the man ended up pushing Sonu on the backstage steps. Watch video here.

Witnesses told ETimes, it was then that Sonu’s bodyguard put his own body between the assailant and Sonu Nigam. The bodyguard took the push from the man and he fell off the stairs and onto the ground below. After that, the aggressive man tried to grab Sonu. Again, to save Sonu his friend and singer Rabbani Khan tried to stop the assailant. It was then, that the aggressor pushed Rabbani and he too fell seven feet off the stairs and onto the ground below. Luckily, Sonu didn’t sustain any injury, but the two men who tried to save him may have been injured.

Rabbani Khan is the son of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Sonu Nigam’s mentor and guru, who passed away in 2021.
At the time of publishing this story, Sonu had taken his bodyguard and Rabbani Khan to the hospital. The two men were getting an X-Ray to determine if they had sustained any fractures. ETimes reached out to Sonu who confirmed the development but wasn’t in a position to talk.
