Sonali Kulkarni: Sulochana Latkar’s grace and sincerity is the epitome of her character- Exclusive! | Marathi Movie News – Times of India
Friends and family of the beloved veteran actress have been expressing their grief since then and among them is Marathi actress Sonali Kulkarni, who was the first to pay a visit to Sulochana Latkar in the hospital and also informed press and friends from the industry about the sad news of Sulochana Latkar’s demise.
The ‘Madhuri’ actress who essayed the iconic role of the late Sulochana Latkar in Abhijeet Deshpande’s ‘Aani… Dr Kashinath Ghanekar’, says, Sulochana Latkar’s grace and sincerity are the epitome of her character.
Expressing her grief, Sonali said ” Sulochana Tai was the first person from the industry as such to reach out to me. I used to stay in a rental flat during my struggling days. She had reached out to me and conveyed that she had liked one of my performances.”
“Sulochana Tai always did this consistently and she always had feedback and constructive criticism about our performances which was rare. She was very vocal about what she felt. She was the one who extended the friendship bond. I was always in touch with her and her family. Because of our film ‘Aani… Dr Kashinath Ghanekar’, I can call myself a little closer friend and otherwise. I wouldn’t have dared to portray her character but my director Abhijeet Deshpande was very keen and so was Sulochana Tai” Sonali added.
The actress also said, “Sulochana Tai asked me to play her role because she wanted to see me playing her role on the big screen. Another connection I had with Sulochana Tai, she was originally from Khadaklat, Karnataka which is also my grandparent’s place.”
“The entire village of Khadaklat has a pride in Sulochana Tai that we don’t fear the film industry because our representative Sulochana Tai made us feel so proud. She was away from controversy and always immersed in her work. Her grace and sincerity are the epitome of her character. We are going to miss that presence. I am not able to imagine how we are going to deal with the upcoming times” Sonali concluded.
