Sonakshi Sinha reveals why she did subservient roles in the initial years of her career and what brought a shift – deets inside | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Sonakshi Sinha made her Hindi cinema debut with ‘Dabangg‘ in 2010. While her early career choices were about playing safe and being just a female lead in largely male dominated films, Sonakshi has made a shift in the last few years. In a recent interview, the actress opened up on why she chose subservient roles earlier and what brought a change in her choices.
Sinha revealed that she did the so-called subservient roles initially because they were big films and she got the opportunity to work in them. Such films had a wide reach among the audience, thus, they made her popular. But then, the actress did one solo film which was completely on her shoulders and it was the most satisfying feeling for her. Sonakshi was perhaps talking about her role in ‘Akira‘. It was a film led by her where she also performed some hardcore action.
Sonakshi further added that the satisfaction one gets after playing such roles matches nothing else. That brought about a change in her and that’s how she started picking up roles. The actress will be seen next in ‘Dahaad‘ where she plays a tough cop. The actress opened up about her character and said that it’s different from anything she’s played so far. Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar have written this series and Sonakshi said that they’ve created a character who is not just unafraid but has the caliber to be a role model.
‘Dahaad’ which was the first ever series to be presented at the 2023 Berlinale Film Festival, begins streaming on OTT from today. The series also stars Vijay Varma and Gulshan Deviah.
