‘Some praises give you…’: Babar Azam reacts to Virat Kohli’s statement on him ahead of Asia Cup clash

Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, expressed his immense pride and boosted confidence upon receiving accolades from Virat Kohli, who hailed him as the leading batter across all formats in 2022.
In the year 2022, Kohli commended Babar for his unwavering attitude and respect towards him, even as he soared to new heights in the realm of cricket. Kohli emphasized the significance of players like Babar, who possess the ability to inspire countless individuals and leave a lasting impact on the sport.
“It feels very good when someone passes comments like that about you,” Babar told Star Sports in a video, a clip of which was released on Thursday. “Virat Kohli’s comments about me, that was a very proud moment for me and it felt very good. Some things and some praises give you confidence.”

The Pakistani player has made a remarkable start to the Asia Cup. In the tournament opener against Nepal in Multan on Wednesday, he displayed his prowess by smashing a magnificent 151 runs off just 131 balls in the first innings. Despite losing three of the top-five batters, he held Pakistan’s innings together and showcased his exceptional skills in a partnership with Iftikhar Ahmed.
This outstanding performance marked his 19th century in only his 102nd One Day International (ODI) inning, making him the fastest player to achieve this milestone. Additionally, he etched his name in history as the first captain to score over 150 runs in an Asia Cup match. Furthermore, his score of 151 stands as the second-highest individual score in the history of the Asia Cup.
