Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon seems to be displeased with the NFL’s potential playoff plans, despite already having a policy in place for canceled games.
Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated on the field in Cincinnati during Monday night’s eventually canceled Bengals-Bills game.
While tragedy seems to have been averted since – Hamlin is now breathing and speaking on his own accord – the cancellation has caused chaos and uncertainty for the imminent AFC playoffs.
NFL owners will meet Friday to discuss possibilities moving forward, but the league has already proposed options such as a neutral-site AFC Championship Game if either franchise make it that far.

A coin-flip to determine home field advantage has also been raised by the league. Though all aren’t happy, including Mixon.
He tweeted a picture of the NFL policy manual Thursday night, with the caption reading ‘So we not following the rules no more,’ followed by a frog and tea emoji – often in reference to a popular meme of Kermit the Frog accompanied by the quote ‘But that’s none of my business.’
Mixon shared a particular part of the rulebook relating to the ‘competitive policy for cancelled games.’ It stated in the event of a game ending in that fashion, final winning percentage determines playoff seeding.

Under such rulings, the Bengals would clinch the AFC North irrespective of the result vs. Baltimore Sunday.
However, the league – under its new proposal – would likely revert to a coin flip to assess whether Baltimore or Cincinnati get home field in the playoffs, if the Ravens were to win.
If approved by NFL owners, Cincinnati — or Buffalo — would play the Kansas City Chiefs at a neutral site in the AFC Championship Game.
Cincinnati has beaten the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this season, as well as in the 2021 AFCCG
