A peaceful protest turned violent in Kangpokpiat Kangpokpi town in Manipur in March this year. Five people were injured in the incident. Chief minister N Biren Singh had said a Myanmar-based militant outfit had incited the protest.

The Kuki Students Organisation had stated that the manner in which the eviction drive was conducted “negates humanitarian values, leaving many homeless, and also violates right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution and Human Rights.
