Simone Bellotti Is Bally’s New Design Director

Two weeks after it was announced that Rhuigi Villaseñor would be stepping down from the role of creative director at Bally, after a short tenure, today the Swiss luxury label has named his successor. Simone Bellotti, a little known designer who previously worked at Gucci for 16 years, will be its new design director.

“It is a great honor to be appointed Bally’s Design Director and trusted with contributing to Bally’s extraordinary legacy,” Bellotti said in a statement. “The house’s unique Swiss heritage, coupled with its beautiful history rooted in a pioneering spirit and relentless pursuit of excellence, is a powerful inspiration.”

Before Gucci, Bellotti spent time at Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Venetta, and Gianfranco Ferre, hinting perhaps at what the Bally executives are wishing for the future of the brand.

“I am honored to announce Simone Bellotti’s leadership for the Bally design studio. Having already worked alongside the team during the past nine months, Simone will continue to interpret and rejuvenate our signature codes in the context of today,” Nicolas Girotto, the CEO of Bally, said in a statement. “Simone’s passion and appreciation for Bally’s heritage, coupled with his extensive industry experience, will enable us to continue to execute on our vision of creating timeless and elegant products that uphold our legacy of craft and stand the test of time.”

Bellotti will introduce his vision for the label in September during Milan Fashion Week.
