Sidhi urination video: Govt bulldozes ‘illegal encroachment’ of accused | Watch

Madhya Pradesh government on Wednesday bulldozed the “illegal encroachments” of Pravesh Shukla, the accused in the case of urinating on another man in the Sidhi district of the state. The Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led government booked the accused under stringent National Security Act (NSA) after the video went viral on social media.

The incident took place in Kubri village within the district, and the widely circulated video purportedly depicts the accused individual urinating on the face of the man while being perceived as intoxicated.

“A viral video from Sidhi district has come to my notice…I have instructed the administration to arrest the culprit and take the strictest action and also invoke the National Security Act,” the chief minister said in a tweet.

The police have registered the case under Indian Penal Code sections 294 (obscene acts), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), and provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the accused and the provisions of NSA are also invoked.

Madhya Pradesh’s Home Minister Narottam Mishra termed the incident as “heinous, condemnable and a shame on humanity.”

Exposed BJP’s hatred towards tribals and Dalits: Rahul Gandhi

The politics around the incident is also gaining momentum with senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleging that the “inhuman act” has exposed the BJP’s hatred towards tribals and Dalits. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also slammed the BJP government and said the “inhuman and disgusting act done by a person close to a BJP MLA to a tribal youth in Madhya Pradesh is extremely shameful.”

“In the BJP rule, there are only empty claims and empty words about tribal interests. Why doesn’t the government take real steps to stop atrocities on tribals?” Priyanka Gandhi said.

With increasing pressure, Madhya Pradesh BJP chief V D Sharma decided to form a four-member committee to conduct a probe into the incident. The committee is headed by Ramlal Rautel, chairman of the Janjati Vikas Pradhikaran with legislators Sharad Kol and Amar Singh and BJP state vice-president Kantdev Singh as members.
