Shubman Gill breaks This Sachin Tendulkar record during match with SRH

Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill broke a record by the legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar during a match with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Gujarat’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Gill now holds the record for scoring the quickest fifty in the IPL without hitting a six.

Batting for the Gujarat Titans, 23-year-old Gill scored the fastest half-century of his career coming off just 22 balls. Notably, Gill did not hit even a single six during the innings while hitting nine fours.

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar held this unique record for scoring the fastest half-century without hitting a six. In 2010, Sachin scored a half-century off 23 balls against Delhi Daredevils.

Shubman went on to achieve some other milestones during the IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The star India opener went on to score his first century in the IPl in just 56 balls. Gill has now become the sixth player to score a century in IPL 2023 after Suryakumar Yadav, Venkatesh Iyer, Harry Brook, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Prabhsimran Singh.

Gill also became the first player to score 1,000 runs for Gujarat Titans while also going past the 500-run mark in IPL 2023. It is the first time that the GT opener has managed to score more than 500 runs in an IPL season. Shubman scored 440 runs in IPL 2020, 478 runs in IPL 2021, and 483 runs in IPL 2022.

Shubman Gill also became the highest run-scorer at a single venue in IPL 2023. Gill scored 400 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in this year’s IPL. Second on the list is New Zealand’s Devon Conway, who scored 350 runs in his seven innings at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

In a unique feat, Shubman Gill and Bhuvneshwar Kumar created an IPL record of their own. The two players scored a century and took a five-wicket haul respectively while playing for opposite sides.
