“Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Naagin’ trilogy is NOT on hold,” Producer Nikhil Dwivedi screams – Exclusive – Times of India

Shraddha Kapoor has been signed up to play the lead in Vishal Furia’s Naagin trilogy and was to begin shooting for the same after wrapping up Luv Ranjan’s next with Ranbir Kapoor. A news portal has now raised doubts about the film, whether it will happen or not. The report says that it seems that the film has been put on hold.

Backed by Nikhil Dwivedi, this trilogy is said to be heavy on VFX and will feature Shraddha in the role of a Naagin. So, all it needed was a phone call to Nikhil. Clearly, Nikhil was not contacted before the report was published. For now he’s talking to ETimes. “It was simply ‘Fake News’, I would say. It wasn’t true at all. The trilogy of ‘Naagin’ has not been kept at the backburner,” he said.

According to the news portal which published the wrong news, the makers had decided to put the film on hold because of its massive budget; the recent dry spell of Bollywood misses made them rethink ‘Naagin’.

Speaking about the ambitious project, director Vishal had previously shared, “It’s an interesting space. This idea of a naagin has been with us for a while but I would like to believe that it has not been justified enough. Nikhil Dwivedi has a vision for this project. He wants to make it different from all the versions of the past; he has plans for a completely new world for the character. It requires heavy VFX and our approach is different from whatever has been presented so far.”

Well, Vishal and Nikhil’s vision is very much on, and not put on hold. We hear it will start shortly.
