Shiamak Davar reveals ‘it was Gigi’s idea’ as he comes out in support of Varun Dhawan over the kiss controversy – Times of India

After Varun Dhawan’s power-packed performance and his act with Gigi Hadid at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), social media was abuzz with chatter that the consent of the Hollywood star wasn’t involved.
Choreographer Shiamak Davar has now come forward in support of the Bollywood actor over the controversy. He revealed that it was actually Gigi who asked Varun to do it. The choreographer, who directed all the acts for the night, added that Varun told him that Gigi said to him, ‘When you are going to be on stage, bring me up’, to which he said, ‘Okay’. That’s why he picked her up. It was her idea and everything was pre-planned, Shiamak told the Hindustan Times.

The choreographer added that he was amazed with the kind of response that moment received. He also shared that Mukesh Ambani had tears in his eyes, and his wife Nita Ambani was wiping them.

An inside video from the event featured the actor inviting Gigi Hadid on stage and picking her up in his arms. After a twirl, Varun was seen giving Gigi a peck on Gigi’s cheek, after which she left the stage.

Trolls slammed Varun for kissing the supermodel without her ‘consent’. They also went on to allege that Gigi looked uncomfortable after the episode. Varun took to his Twitter handle and gave it back to the trolls.

A now deleted tweet read, “If you are a woman, you are not safe anywhere with anyone. Even if you are Gigi Hadid, invited to a party with an “elite” crowd, guys like Varun Dhawan will randomly pick you up and kiss you without your consent, all in the name of fun. Disgusting.”

Reacting to it, Varun Dhawan wrote, “I guess today you woke up and decided to be woke. So lemme burst ur bubble and tell u it was planned for her to be on stage so find a new Twitter cause to vent about rather than going out and doing something about things. Good morning.”
