Shefali Shah deconstructs her iconic cake scene from ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’; says makers thought her character was ‘weakest on paper’ – Times of India

Shefali Shah recently graced Kareena Kapoor Khan’s chat show, where she opened up about her character in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’. She also spills the beans on her iconic cake scene from the movie.
Shefali confessed that it was the cake scene that made her say yes to the film. She also revealed that she met Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti and Javed Akhtar after the film’s release, and they told her how the character of Neelam Mehra was the ‘weakest on paper’. However, for the actor, it was the second strongest part after Pluto the dog.

Talking about the scene, she said that it was a ‘director’s scene’ and any actor doing it would have aced it. According to her, it was a powerful moment. The actress revealed that she had so many people come up to her after the film saying how they had done something similar.

The actor also added that, since the characters were in Turkey then, the team had called her to ask what she wanted to eat in that scene. Shefali revealed that she was offered Baklava but she asked for cakes with chocolate syrup. She wanted it to look messy, and she also didn’t want to choke on the dry cake.

‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ also starred Anil Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, and Rahul Bose.
