Sharad Kelkar reveals he was ‘replaced’ after giving 30 retakes for a show because of his ‘stammering’ – Times of India

Sharad Kelkar is one of the most sought-after and talented actors we have in the industry today. However, everything was not hunky-dory for the actor right from the beginning of his career.

The actor recently recalled the time when he used to ‘stammer’. He narrated an incident where he reportedly got ‘replaced’ after giving 30 retakes for a scene on a TV show. Spilling some beans on the same, Sharad told a news portal that he used to stammer a lot, so modelling is fine, saying one line is fine because you do that after a lot of practice. However, when it came to acting in a TV show or a film, it was a different ballgame altogether.

Narrating the incident, he added that in 2003, he was signed for TV show. Although he wasn’t the lead, he was playing a very important character. One or two days passed by easily but on the fifth day, he got a huge one-and-a-half-page dialogue. Either he was speaking very fast, or there wasn’t clarity or he was stammering. The actor added that his director was patient enough to give him 30 retakes. Ultimately, he called him and asked what the issue was. Sharad told him that he won’t be able to do it and he should take someone else. The filmmaker also understood that the actor was being honest. Finally, he was replaced on that show.

Sharad recently garnered immense praise for his performance in Akshay Kumar starrer, ‘Laxmii’. The film that released on an OTT platform, also starred Kiara Advani in lead a role. He will next be seen n ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’ starring Ajay Devgn, Nora Fatehi and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. It is all set for a release on an OTT platform.
