Shanaya Kapoor’s debut ‘Bedhadak’ to start shoot by end of the year, reveals Sanjay Kapoor – Exclusive – Times of India

Not too long ago, there were speculations that Shanaya Kapoor’s debut film ‘Bedhadak’ might have been shelved or delayed. But ETimes has confirmation from Shanaya’s father, actor Sanjay Kapoor that the project is right on track and will begin shooting soon. Speaking to ETimes, Sanjay revealed, “Shanaya will be shooting for the film by end of this year or early next year.”

‘Bedhadak’ has had its share of problems right from the time it was announced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film was to go on floors in the first quarter of 2021, but the second lockdown forced the makers to postpone the project. The main reason for the rescheduling was the fact that the movie was to be shot in Bangkok, an international location. Filmmaker Parag Chakravarti was slated to direct the first time around, but later, due to circumstances he was replaced by Shashank Khaitan. Shashank had also directed Janhvi Kapoor in her launch film ‘Dhadak’.

Another delay happened when the makers were planning to shoot the film in Bangkok at the end of December 2021 but Shanaya was struck by Covid-19. Then there were reports of the film being shelved or put on hold. This happened when Shashank Khaitan’s film ‘Screw Dheela’ with Tiger Shroff was announced. But all conjecture around Bedhadak’s delay was later denied by Karan Johar.

Shanaya’s debut has been in the offing for a long time now. The film is slated to feature other new comers Gurfateh Pirzada and Laksh Lalwani as well.
