‘Shamshera’ director Karan Malhotra talks about working with Rishi and Ranbir Kapoor; says ‘they are so different yet so similar’ – Times of India

Spilling some beans on the same, the filmmaker stated that he is fortunate to have worked with both Rishi and Ranbir. According to him, they are so different yet so similar. Karan recalled that while with Rishi they would argue, fight and have multiple discussions on the character arc of Rauf Lala, he always gave him immense respect and never treated him like a first-time director. The director added that the challenges they threw at each other only made the character bigger. He also revealed that he misses the madness on set with him every single day.

Elaborating further, Karan added that even though Ranbir and Rishi are very different, their work ethics are similar. They both surrender to the vision of the director. According to him, Rishi had always been vocal about his wish to see Ranbir do a hardcore commercial film. So with that thought, working with Ranbir on ‘Shamshera’ has been extremely delightful for him.

Directed by Karan Malhotra, ‘Shamshera’ also stars Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. It is all set to release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on July 22, 2022.
