‘Shamshera’ box office collection day 2: Ranbir Kapoor’s action drama maintains a flat trend with Rs 10 crore, scores less than Alia Bhatt’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ – Times of India
With ‘Shamshera’, Ranbir returned to entertain on the big screen after a gap of four years, his last appearance being ‘Sanju’ (2018). On its second day at the box office, this action entertainer added Rs 10 crore to its total, reports boxofficeindia. The film has not gained much audience in the multiplexes and the mass belts have also failed to show much growth. ‘Shamshera’ currently stands at a total of Rs 20 crore nett which is a low score for a biggie like this. The film will have to record a strong collection on Sunday, to sustain through the coming week. Interestingly, Ranbir’s ‘Shamshera’ has earned less than Alia Bhatt’s ‘Gangubai Kathiwadi’ on day two. While RK added Rs 10 crore to the total, Alia’s film had earned Rs 12.50 crore on day two. According to Boxofficeindia, the recovery from non-theatrical business for ‘Shamshera’ is over Rs 150 crore, which will save the film from suffering major monetary loss.
Despite battling cancer, Sanjay Dutt reported on the sets of ‘Shamshera’ and continued to shoot without letting anybody know about his illness. Speaking about the same, director Karan Malhotra had told PTI, “The news that Sanjay sir had been diagnosed with cancer came to all of us like a huge shock. We had no idea about it. He was talking, behaving, and working as if nothing has happened. I guess that’s why he is where he is today, having conquered this too. Sanjay sir doesn’t let anything get the better of him. He is an inspiration on the sets for everyone.”
