Shahid Kapoor recalls his traumatic incident from childhood with Pankaj Kapur: I decided I won’t go out with my father | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Shahid Kapoor recently revealed that he kept the identity of his father Pankaj Kapur a secret when he entered into the film industry. He wanted to stay loyal to his mother Neliima Azeem with whom she was living after her divorce from Pankaj. He also recalled the traumatic experience from his childhood when he had stepped out with his father at a restaurant.
He told Mid-day that his father was not in Delhi and they would probably meet once a year till he turned 10 and shifted to Mumbai.Recalling the incident, Shahid said that his father had come to Delhi and wanted to take him out. So they went out to Nirulas in Delhi.
Since Pankaj had become very famous because of his show Karamchand, many people suddenly crowded around him when they were eating. One by one, people started bringing carrots and asked Pankaj, ‘Ye humaare haath se khaa lo.’Shahid said that his father is a very reserved person and a serious actor who takes his acting seriously even while doing comic roles. Pankaj then snapped back at the people and said, ‘Ye kya kar rahe hain aap, main apne bete ke saath pizza kha raha hun (What are you guys doing? I am eating a pizza with my son here).’
Pankaj then held Shahid’s hand and told him to run away from there. “I remember I was like, ‘This is pathetic’,” Shahid shared. After this incident, Shahid decided that he won’t go out with his father as he was very traumatised as a kid.
