Police, Sahil Khan, a twenty-year-old individual accused of fatally stabbing his sixteen-year-old girlfriend and assaulting her with a concrete slab, was reportedly distressed by the minor’s intention to end their relationship, as per a report by the Indian Express citing sources.
After being arrested from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh on Monday evening and transported to Delhi, Khan was presented before the Rohini court on Tuesday.
According to sources within the Delhi Police, the accused and the deceased had a tense and troubled relationship.
“It has been deduced that Sahil was upset with the minor because she was ignoring his calls and wanted to end the relationship. This angered him and he had threatened to kill her. He kept pressuring her to continue the relationship but she did not listen,” said an officer.
According to the Delhi Police, the murder weapon has not been recovered yet, and they are currently interrogating Sahil, who was brought to Delhi in the early hours of Tuesday. Senior officers stated that the accused allegedly committed the crime between 8:45 and 9:00 pm before escaping to the Rithala area, where he discarded the weapon.
“We found that he went to Rithala after the incident to dump the weapon. After this, he switched off his phone and boarded a bus to Bulandshahr. He went to his aunt’s place and was later traced with the help of technical surveillance,” an officer said.
As reported by ANI, Sahil was produced before a court and he was sent to police custody for two days.
Based on an initial medical examination, it was found that the victim had over 34 wounds on her body, with approximately 20 of them being stab wounds. The police stated that her skull was fractured when she was struck with the concrete slab.
As part of their investigation, the police are questioning Sahil and the family of the minor to determine the chronological order of events that led to the altercation and subsequent murder. The girl had been residing at a friend’s residence for the past few weeks. She was subjected to multiple stab wounds on Sunday and then fatally beaten on a crowded street in the Shahbad Dairy area of Delhi.
Meanwhile, none of the bystanders or locals intervened or provided assistance. The incident was captured on CCTV, and the footage depicting the brutal assault quickly spread across social media platforms.
