Shah Rukh Khan reveals Gauri Khan started designing out of necessity because they could not afford a designer – Times of India
A Twitter user shared some screenshots of the foreword where SRK talked about how Gauri started designing in the first place. It was that time when they bought their first house and expecting their first child Aryan Khan. Since things were expensive and they could not afford a designer, Gauri took the job upon herself.
“Needless to say, it was beyond our means, but we needed a living space, because we were expecting Aryan. So, the choice was made, that we would try and buy stuff as and when we had the money. We could not afford a designer so the job was taken over by Gauri,” SRK wrote.
He further added, “We once went to buy a sofa, but since it was too expensive, we just bought the leather for the sofa on one of my travels and waited for some carpenter to build what Gauri had designed in a notebook.”
SRK said that when they bought Mannat, they had spent all their money in buying the house, which resulted in financial crunch. Then Gauri again donned the hat of a designer and “Slowly, what started as a necessity turned into a passion.”
