Shah Rukh Khan fans slam ’empty theatre’ claims with dance party videos celebrating the success of ‘Pathaan’ – Times of India ►

Many were sceptical about the success of ‘Pathaan’; some trolls were actually waiting for empty theatres; but despite that, the film has garnered an estimated Rs 54 crore on the opening day in terms of box office revenues and there are plenty of videos up on social media to show that people all over the country were celebrating the success of the film in theatres.
However, despite reports of box office records, a few tweets have surfaced such as, “Is #Pathaan, a flop or hit? Got this clip from someone.” The tweet accompanies a photo of an empty theatre. However, a large number of people have since put up tweets and Facebook posts of people dancing in theatres all over the country on the opening day of ‘Pathaan’. To celebrate the success of the film, Pathaan fans broke into dance parties in several theatres across the country and even in the neighbouring country of Nepal. The film has broken all records by being released in 100 countries across the globe.

The multi-starrer film with Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Salman Khan in a cameo role was greeted with a lot of attention and controversy because of its song, ‘Besharam Rang’ and the return of India’s much loved actor Shah Rukh Khan, to the big screen after a four-year long gap.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, ‘Pathaan’ was released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The movie has rocked the overseas box office collection too, having raked in Rs 100 crore worldwide on day 1.
