Sebastien Haller scored his first goal since his cancer diagnosis on World Cancer Day as Borussia Dortmund hosted Freiburg.
The Bundesliga match was played on Saturday February 2, which is globally recognised as World Cancer Day.
Haller was diagnosed with testicular cancer, but after treatment, has made his way back to Dortmund’s first-team, making his competitive return last month in a 4-3 win over Augsburg.
In the 51st minute, the striker from the Ivory Coast got his goal against ten-man Freiburg. He dispatched home Raphael Guerreiro’s cross to head home for Dortmund, who extended their lead to 3-1.
The club also marked the occasion of World Cancer Day by including a lump on the centre circle before the match, and at half time, to raise awareness of testicular cancer.
