Scream zone! The perfect movie playlist for Halloween – Times of India

I don’t get scared by ghosts easily, and that is why I enjoyed doing films like Bhoot (2003) and Kaun (1999) as much as I did. I would recommend Kaun more than Bhoot for Halloween, as it has a crazy streak. However, if you are strictly a fan of scary or horror movies, then it has to be Bhoot. I am very proud of both the movies because they weren’t high on histrionics. They played on your mind psychologically, and that made them more intense than the blood and gore movies with colourful fluids oozing out of people’s eyes
and ears.

Raaz definitely was and is an iconic film in this genre. It was well-received for its story and the jump scares. I do enjoy watching a couple of scary films. The Omen (1976) was the first horror film that I saw, so that has stayed with me. Scream (1996), when it released, was a scary movie for its sound effects. Though not a horror film, Jaws (1975) was very scary. If you are talking purely horror, then The Conjuring (2013), The Omen and The Ring (2002) are pretty fantastic.
Vikram Bhatt
My wife and I like to binge on these real-life paranormal activity videos on paranormal investigators and demonologists on a regular basis. I love watching that. They go to these spooky places and that is really scary as it looks very real. It’s endless binge material. Other than that, my favourite scary films have to be The Blair Witch Project (1999) and Paranormal Activity (2007). You don’t see the ghost per se, so the anticipation has a great impact. I like the found footage, candid camera genre because they have rough edges, a touch of reality and don’t follow a pattern.

I have done a few scary movies myself. Pizza (2014) was very well received. I love the genre. There are a few scary movies that I love watching. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) is a flawless film. Even Quentin Tarantino recently said that this film is one of Hollywood’s only ‘perfect’ films. I remember freaking out when I saw it for the first time
.Another favourite is ‘The Exorcist’ (1973). That time we had never seen CGI like this. ‘28 Days Later’ is another favourite because it has my favourite actor Cillian Murphy and is made by Danny Boyle. It is one of the best zombie films I have seen. ‘IT’ (2017) was terrifying because as a child my brother would tell me the story of the clown and seeing it on screen was creepy. And of course The Conjuring (2013). The sound design of that film is absolutely spectacular. I feel scary films are completely director’s medium. How effectively they use technology, makeup makes the difference.
Sunny Leone
I just finished watching Dahmer (Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), a true crime series. It was pretty unsettling, well made and well-performed. I love watching these serial killer series or scary films based on real characters.
Aahana Kumra
I love watching scary movies and criminal minds-serial killer dramas like Dahmer. It’s my favourite genre because there’s so much thrill in it. Watching scary films is like being on a roller coaster, and my favourite scary movie is The Conjuring (2013).
Geeta Basra
I hate watching horror or scary films but I have watched a few because my best friend used to make me watch them. Her favourite genre is horror. I remember having to skip college to watch a film called ‘What lies beneath (2000)’. It wasn’t a horror film but it was really scary thriller. That film really scared me in my college days.
