satnam: Attack on minorities: Sikh hakim shot inside his Peshawar shop – Times of India

AMRITSAR: In yet another targeted killing of minority community members in Pakistan, Satnam Singh, a Sikh quack, was shot dead in Peshawar on Thursday.
The Sikhs of Peshawar have demanded security from Pakistan government, besides to rein in the elements who continue to attack them.
While talking to TOI over phone, social activist Radesh Singh Tony said that some unidentified elements shot dead Satnam, a hakim who ran ‘Dharmandar Dawakhana’ on Charsda Road, Peshawar.
According to Pakistani media reports, the assailants barged into his shop on Thursday afternoon and fired four times. He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Radesh said Satnam hailed from Tira tribal community of Orakazai Agency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province. The Tira tribal community originally belongs to Jalalabad in Afghanistan. Following attacks on Sikhs, Satnam, along with family, had shifted to Peshawar.
In the past, there had been over a dozen killings of Sikhs, including Dr Swaran Singh, advisor to KPK chief Parvez Khan Khattak, on April 22, 2016.
“We fear the targeted killing of Sikh community members may increase with Taliban holding power in neighboring Afghanistan since they had earlier been targeting the community there,” said Radesh.
