Sarkaru Vaari Paata movie review highlights: Mahesh Babu and Keerthy Suresh shine in an okay film – Times of India
Mahesh Babu returns to the big screen after two long years, with his last film being Sarileru Neekevvaru in 2020. In SVP he plays Mahi, a debt collector who runs a financial corporation in Miami, US. He loves moral policing and will go to any corner of the world to collect debt, no matter the amount. While gangsters are no match for him, a gambling addict called Kalaavathi (Keerthy Suresh) pretends to be goody two shoes and swindles him. His friend Kishore (Vennela Kishore) points out her red flags but he plays right into her hands because he can’t get over how ‘traditional’ and sweet she is. Of course, when he learns reality, he problematically sees fit to no longer respect her as he used to. Things take a turn when her father Rajendranath (Samuthirakani) gets involved.
The first half of the film runs along the usual lines of any other commercial cinema with songs, fight scenes, romance, punch dialogues, et al. There are a few moments that stay with you and others…not so much. What starts out as a love story turns into an unnecessary war between two egoistic men. Parasuram might not have something novel to tell but Mahesh and Keerthy keep you hooked with their performances in this predictable tale. With the story shifting to Vizag and Mahi’s fighting skills reaching demi god status right before the interval, it remains to be seen how the second half will fare.
