Sarbananda Sonowal thanks PM Modi for reducing area under AFSPA in Assam
On the historic occasion of the government decision to reduce the area of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (PSW) and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal said, “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Union Government took an important decision to reduce the area of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Assam, Manipur & Nagaland. This makes it evident that the peace in Northeast has returned. Under the leadership of our Prime Minister, the region is now developing. With the unwavering commitment to bring peace & prosperity to all the eight states in the region, the Prime Minister has been successful to unlock the vast potential of the Northeast with sheer hard work, focussed approach, and sustained effort. The peace achieved by the region has led varied sectors of the region secure unprecedented growth”
He added, “ With the peace coming back to the region, the people from all walks has reclaimed an opportunity to live their lives with respect. On behalf of every person of the Northeast, I extend heartfelt gratitude and thanks to our Prime Minister on this historic occasion. My sincere thanks to the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah ji for his effort towards achieving this milestone. The lasting peace in the region is because of the effort put in by the Home Minister under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modiji.”
