Sanjay Dutt: There’s insecurity between modern actors, I learnt from working with Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan – Exclusive – Times of India
Speaking on this, Dutt revealed, “I don’t know what’s happened nowadays, but I think it’s the insecurity between them. The 90s saw some amazing movies, where we all supported each other. We played our parts and learnt more.” He cited examples of working with seniors of his time and having enriching and learning experiences. He added, “I have worked with Dilip saab in a couple of movies as well. When you’re working with a veteran like him, you can’t even say anything if he changes something in the scene or the film. But we learnt so much just by looking at him. Where he took his pauses or what he did or the way he looked. It was the same with Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan). Working with these actors was a learning process and I am learning even today.”
He wasn’t all critical of modern actors though. Dutt did add that he looks up to his younger contemporaries and he has learnt from his Shamshera co-stars as well. He said, “Even when I look at Ranbir and Vaani, I continue to learn more, by observing them.”
Dutt is playing a larger-than-life antagonist in Shamshera and one of the highlights of the film is his on-screen face off with Ranbir Kapoor. It’s an interesting connection since Ranbir has played Sanjay Dutt in his biopic. It’ll be great to see both actors play off each other in this upcoming release.
